June News!
A really good month for the team here at GHR. Across both codes 3 winners and on the flat alone a further four seconds, four thirds and a fourth!! In addition, we went Tattersalls Ascot sales and were delighted to purchase SEVEN …yes seven horses on behalf of our Owners. But those that know me know that I am rarely satisfied and always strive for more success, so forgive me for starting this blog with a nearly winner. The Cola Kid ran his best race to date under a very good ride from in form apprentice Conor Planas and although a lovely run to finish second it was so frustrating as I thought he was going to win throughout the final furlong and to get touched off by a short head made the trip home from Ffos Las seem longer than usual! Gutted. Connie’s Rose was this month’s star, winning twice and also finishing second on two other occasions. Known as a Chepstow specialist this proved to be the case once again with three fine runs there(2nd-1st-2nd) but it was especially pleasing for her to win at Bath where she absolutely flew from the stalls and was never headed. I was so pleased to see Halifax win for his Owners at Ffos Las. I mentioned in last month’s blog how well he had run at Warwick previously despite making an early mistake. So, Halifax deserved his success and has done really well since joining us. Disregard his next run at Uttoxeter where the ground was too soft. Symbol of Hope ran a couple of creditable thirds at Bath and it would be no surprise to see this consistent gelding in the winner’s enclosure very soon especially if we can find a suitable race at his beloved Bath. Talking of Bath another one that has developed a liking for the track is Ladypacksapunch, I like a filly that can finish a race off and her second and third in the month and in both races running on suggests that there is a race or two to be won with her. I am always excited (and very grateful) to get new horses in the stable, so we’ve had a busy time since Ascot getting to know and understand the new additions and gives us plenty to look forward to. And it certainly is busy at the moment as we are also breaking in some of the young horses we’ve got. My thanks to all the team who are such a part of the successes that we have. Take care everyone!
