October News…
OCTOBER news…..Paul and Ann’s lovely filly Connie’s Rose got us off to a great start to the month when winning her sixth race for us. She is proving just as effective at Bath as she is at Chepstow, Kieran O’Neill gave her a very positive ride and she kept on gamely close home. Two days later and under the NH code Justshortofabubble won convincingly at Bangor, staying on well on the run-in and looked to be going away close home. ‘Bubbles’ has been very consistent and I’m hoping that he can overcome the 6lb handicap rise. I was so pleased that Sexy Rexy won for Andrew and James at Wolverhampton, I said in previous blogs that I thought she was on a winning mark and now that this filly has got her head in front I think she can continue to blossom. Later in the month she finished a close third, leading inside the final furlong and only the 4lb rise found her out. Halifax was an excellent second at Bangor on ground softer than ideal and is another that has proved to be a lot of fun. Bangor racecourse should be commended for the prize money they put up for this race. Another one I have to mention again is The Cola Kid, what a wonderfully consistent horse he has proved to be both on turf and the all-weather. Since May he has finished in the first four in ten races and can count himself extremely unlucky to have only won once having met with interference in several of those runs.More good news for the GHR team is the latest additions to our stable. Impeller a 5yo gelding, So Smart a 4yo gelding and Dance Havana a 3yo dual purpose filly. All three were purchased at Tattersalls and we look forward to them running, it’s always an exciting time when a horse makes it’s debut for us. So Smart has been on my radar for over a year after I saw him run at Salisbury when he was beaten a rallying short head with Symbol of Hope back in third. I was particularly taken by So Smart and he is now FOR SALE to stay in the stable. He has been cantered and goes really well, in previous seasons he has always performed well after a break and has shown much better form on turf. In 2022 he finished second on his first 5 runs following a winter break and in 2023 was placed in the first four in the first three runs. So he will be given a brief holiday to freshen him up and he will come back on a handicap mark which is lower than any of these runs. So Smart has run 25 times on turf and been placed in seventeen of those races winning once and finishing second on eleven occasions. Moreover he is a horse capable of running races in quick succession. You can tell I’m keen on him so please contact me if you are looking for a really fun horse that will give you some great days out!Take care everyone!
